Amin Hedayat, MD, FASDP, FCAP, FASCP

Amin Hedayat, MD, FASDP, FCAP, FASCP

Founder and Chairman of the Board

Dr. Amin Hedayat is a physician triple board-certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and dermatopathology, and the founder of the American Melanoma Institute. He completed his dermatopathology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, where he trained in the microscopic diagnosis of melanoma and other complex skin cancers at one of the nation's leading cancer centers.

That training defines his practice. Dr. Hedayat diagnoses skin disease on glass slides and digital images, and dermatology practices in several states send him their difficult cases for consultation. He serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV and holds medical licenses in 13 states.

Before his fellowship he completed residency training in pathology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and he later trained as a visiting scholar at the University of California, San Francisco. He has written more than 20 peer-reviewed publications on melanocytic tumors, molecular testing in melanoma, and cutaneous lymphoma, and he has presented his work at national and international scientific meetings.

He founded the American Melanoma Institute on a conviction drawn from daily practice: melanoma found early is almost always curable, and too many patients are still diagnosed late. The institute brings physician-led education, earlier detection, and research to that problem.

Dr. Hedayat also has a passion for teaching metabolic health, and he has completed additional training in obesity medicine. He hosts a popular podcast on YouTube, with evidence-based episodes on metabolic health, obesity medicine, inflammation, and nutrition.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Hedayat is a classically trained vocalist with a lifelong love of opera singing. He spends much of his free time traveling with his wife and enjoying the outdoors, cycling, running, and swimming, always with sun protection.
